Apple puts a five-computer limit on an account for accessing iTunes protected content, so it's worth remembering to deauthorize before you part ways with a computer, but of course that might not always be possible. Say your Mac stops working or gets stolen, for example. What then? Fortunately, if you no longer have access to the device you want to deauthorize, you can still do so by following the steps below on another computer. The process deauthorizes all computers associated with your account, but also lets you re-authorize the devices you still own. Note that Apple lets you deauthorize all computers once per year, and the procedure on a Windows computer is the same as on a Mac. Keep reading to learn how it's done. Launch iTunes on your Mac. If you aren't signed in already, select Account -> Sign in... from iTunes' menu bar. Enter your Apple ID and password, and click Sign In. Select Account -> View My Account... from the menu bar. On the Account Information page, click the Deauthorize All button at the lower right of the Apple ID summary section. This button will only appear if you have more than one computer authorized. In the pop-up dialog window, click Deauthorize All. Click OK in the Deauthorization Complete dialog window. To re-authorize the current Read Full Article 18 comments How to Cancel App Store Subscriptions Wednesday March 6, 2019 12:59 pm PST by Tim Hardwick Several TV and music services and other apps offer free trials through the App Store that automatically renew to become paid subscriptions after the trial period ends. If you want to prevent an App Store subscription from running beyond the trial period or cancel a subscription you're currently paying for, then read on. This article explains how to cancel any App Store subscription on iOS, Mac, and Apple TV. For security reasons, by default, an iTunes backup will not include saved passwords, Wi-Fi settings, website history, or Health data. You can save information like passwords and website history in an iTunes backup if you encrypt it, which is an option that Apple offers. Encrypted backups are not the default option, but for those of you who want to be able to save more comprehensive backups to your computer, we've created a tutorial that walks you through encrypting iTunes backups and removing that encryption. If you back up your iOS device using iCloud, you do not have to follow any steps for encryption, as iCloud backups are automatically encrypted for you. Read Full Article 12 comments How to Use iTunes Match Monday March 30, 2015 2:26 pm PDT by Lory Gil For $24.99 per year, or about two dollars per month, iTunes Match keeps all of your music in iCloud so you can access any song at any time from any device instead of picking and downloading your favorite playlists every time you sync your device. Plus, Apple will provide you with high quality playback using 256 Kbps AAC DRM free versions of your music, even if your original copy was lower quality. Some users may not be entirely familiar with how the service works, so we've put together this tutorial that explains the process of how to subscribe to and use iTunes Match on your computer and iOS devices. How iTunes Match Works In November 2011, Apple released iTunes Match in the United States, gradually expanding availability over time and now offering the subscription service in over 115 countries. The service is designed to let you store up to 25,000 songs in iCloud that can be accessed from any Apple device at any time. Music you have purchased through the iTunes Store does not count against your maximum capacity. Every song that you've added to your music library in iTunes via CD or digital download, including music from the iTunes Store or another source, can be stored in iTunes Match. Once you have subscribed to the service, iTunes determines which songs in your collection are available in the iTunes Store, and those songs are automatically added to iCloud. Songs that don’t exist in the iTunes Store already are uploaded to iCloud from your computer. Once songs are made available via iCloud, you can play back music on any device that your Apple ID is Read Full Article 123 comments How to Enable Two-Step Verification for Apple ID Thursday January 7, 2016 11:43 am PST by Joe Rossignol Apple introduced an additional layer of security for iPhone, iPad and Mac users in 2013 by rolling out two-step verification for Apple ID accounts. Two-step verification prevents anyone but you from accessing your Apple ID account, even if they know the password, by requiring a four-digit verification code sent via SMS or Find My iPhone on trusted devices. When you enable two-step verification, you must register at least one trusted device capable of receiving SMS text messages. Once activated, two-step authentication is required when managing your Apple ID through My Apple ID, signing into iCloud, or making iTunes, iBooks or App Store purchases from a new device. Apple has also expanded two-step authentication to iMessage and FaceTime, requiring users to input an authentication code from a verified device on accounts that have two-factor verification enabled to prevent unauthorized entry attempts through both Read Full Article 32 comments 'iTunes' Articles Apple Offers 10% Bonus iTunes Credit When Adding Funds to Apple ID Tuesday November 26, 2019 12:29 pm PST by Juli Clover Apple is once again offering a promotion that provides a 10 percent cash bonus when adding funds directly to an Apple ID account in the United States and other countries from a linked credit or debit card. Apple is offering the 10 percent bonus for fund additions between $1 and $200, with the maximum bonus credit topping out at $20. Here's how to add bonus funds: Open up the App Store app. Tap on your profile picture. Tap on Add Funds to Apple ID. Select an amount. Tap Next. Confirm payment with Touch ID or Face ID. The credit can be used for purchasing iTunes movies and TV shows, buying apps, paying app subscription fees, buying books, paying for iCloud storage, paying for Apple Music, paying for Apple Arcade, and more. Apple kicked off this promotion earlier in November, and it will be available through December 12, 2019. It's a good way to get a bit of an extra bonus for ‌App Store‌ credit, and this week's Black Friday...
